My Pug Experience in Dubai

Pug will kill any bed. My score - 3 beds in 50 days

My Zaya arrived in my life in a soft-pink-fluffy bed. The bed stayed perfect for two days. After that, Zaya ripped it apart, dirtied it in poo and pee, soaked it in water, I had to wash and mend it everyday. I bought another bed and rotated beds between the washing. The second bed was: lower in cost sturdy (it was made of several layers of material, which was hard to destroy) washable It lasted longer, but had to be binned after it turned into pieces during washing. I have bought a third bed, similar to the 2nd one, but...

Housebreaking - update - 36 days in training

Wooohoooooo!!!!! A couple of days repetition and my pug has become very consistent at pissing on the potty pad. (Touch wood.) She does not need to be monitored either. Today I decided that I would not watch her behaviour and let her do the business anywhere she wants. She did EVERYTHING in the right place. There has been some struggle with the poo business. But I am trying to correct it. Today I did not go for a walk, so that she poos at home. She did it correctly and I congratulate her abundantly. I knew that my pup would...

Housebreaking - update - 33 days in training

If I ever had to give an advice about the best way to housebreak the dog, I would say - be patient, consistent, believe in your dog and learn their behaviour. I have made a considerable progress with the potty training by: teaching her where the potty place is giving her treat when she goes to potty by herself giving a bigger treat and praising her when she does the "business" on the potty spraying the potty with the puppy aid being around the potty area when it is time for her to go to the toilet knowing how she...

Housebreaking - update - 30 days in traning

´╗┐Today I have recorded a considerable progress. My pug did wee-wee in the potty next to the balcony (the place I assigned to her business outside of the pen). How was it achieved? I started teaching her a new command "potty". I showed her the potty area several times and gave her a treat for sitting on it. After 10 repetitions she realised that sitting on the potty brings food, so she started hanging around the potty more often. Next, I waited for the time she was likely to pee (usually 1 hour after she drinks water after food). So...

Kong toy

Kong toy

Vet recommended to buy a Kong Toy in order to control my dog's non-stop hunt for a treat. The kong toy is an irregularly shaped rubber toy with a hollow center where a treat can be placed. There are different types, but I bought this one, mid size. I also bought a paste to squeeze inside of the toy. The pastes come with different flavours. There is also an option of a cookie. The toy immediately occupied Zaya's attention. In the first try she was with the toy for 15 minutes, trying to get the paste out of the toy....
